The Georgia High School High Tech Program coordinated their annual Augusta Area College and Career Fair on November 7th, 2023. Over 200 students from high school high tech programs in Richmond County, Columbia County, Greene County, McDuffie County, Burke County, Jefferson County, Warren County, Taliferro County, Lincoln County and Glascock County participated in the College and Career Fair. Over 35 community partners, post-secondary education sites, and employers participated at this career fair and students had the opportunity to meet with them one on one to discuss employment and post-secondary education options. Phillip Bowman from Textron did a great presentation on employer expectations to the students. The partners stated that the students were very engaged and asked a lot of good questions to assist them with planning their transition after high school.
The fair is designed to give students the opportunity to explore career opportunities, meet prospective employers, and practice engaging in a professional behavior. It is also a valuable experience to assist students with decisions about post-secondary education at the college level or technical school. Comments are closed.
